Under Armour Unlikely To Sign Zion Williamson

Apr 5, 2019 12:34 PM

Zion Williamson is expected to sign one of the richest shoe endorsement contracts in several years.

Under Armour, however, is unlikely to be in the running to sign Williamson.

"He's probably one of the best prospects to come out in a very long time," said Kevin Plank. "We have a great stable. We can do just about anything. We just can't do everything. So we have to be thoughtful about how we play moneyball and how we deploy dollars."

Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid are Under Armour's most high profile basketball endorsers.

Final Four Ticket Prices Remain High Even Without Zion Williamson

Apr 3, 2019 5:35 PM

The 2019 NCAA Tournament has been largely defined by Zion Williamson and the three close games Duke played while defeating UCF and Virginia Tech before losing to Michigan State in the Elite 8.

While CBS surely wanted to see Williamson and Duke in the Final Four for their television ratings, the secondary ticket market for the Final Four in Minnesota hasn't been dramatically impacted by the elimination of the Blue Devils, according to data from TicketCity.com.

The median starting price climbed from $205 on March 30th to $242 on March 31st and $347 on April 1st. Duke was eliminated from the tournament on the evening of March 31st. While we don't know what prices would be had Duke advanced, there's not a meaningful correlation between the elimination of Duke and what happened to ticket prices.

Tickets for the 2018 Final Four in San Antonio were far lower leading to the event with the median starting price dropping to $136 during the third and fourth rounds.
